On December 17, 1983, Hao Jiang Tian stepped off a plane at John F. Kennedy International Airport with $35 in his pocket. On December 17, 2013, exactly 30 years later, Tian takes the stage to share his musical journey, which includes 19 years at the Metropolitan Opera. Joining him are talented young singers from I Sing Beijing, an apprenticeship program created by Tian in 2011. The recital consists of operatic arias and ensembles, as well as Chinese classic, folk, and art songs, and music from Tian’s childhood.
